From student to EV systems engineer: advanced batteries, BMS, motor control, energy management, and a full vehicle control system.
8 modules · 47 lessons
Advanced battery systems, battery management systems, electric machines at depth, motor control and power electronics, a minor project building a battery management system, energy management and hybrid control, thermal systems and vehicle networks, and a major project building a full vehicle control system.
Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Technology with Ucanly, Level 2 Intermediate, takes you from student to EV systems engineer. Built for practitioners who have completed the Beginner level or have working knowledge of powertrain sizing, battery basics, electric machines, and vehicle dynamics, this program goes deep into cell modelling, ageing and thermal runaway risk, and the algorithms behind state of charge and state of health estimation. You will model PMSM machines in the dq frame, implement field oriented control with space vector PWM, and in your minor project in week five, build a complete battery management system model with cell modelling, state of charge and state of health estimation, cell balancing, and thermal and safety logic, built and validated fully in simulation. You will then study energy management strategies for hybrids, thermal management, and CAN bus vehicle networks and model based design workflows. You will graduate having built a full EV or hybrid vehicle control system in your week ten major project, with a motor control loop, a BMS, an energy management strategy, CAN communication, and drive cycle validation, defended live to Ucanly mentors. This program is fully online, with every lab delivered through industry standard simulation tools exactly the way OEMs and EV startups do early stage design and controls development, so you build genuine, defensible skills without ever needing a lab or hardware.
Complete this course to earn a verified Ucanly certificate you can add to your profile, share on LinkedIn, and showcase to employers as proof of the skills you've built.
It is recommended, but working knowledge of powertrain sizing, battery basics, electric machines, and vehicle dynamics is sufficient to start.
Yes. Every module, lab, and project runs entirely online, with all practical work delivered through industry standard simulation tools, exactly how OEMs and EV startups do early stage design and controls development.
Yes, your minor project is a complete battery management system model with cell modelling, state of charge and state of health estimation, cell balancing, and thermal and safety logic, built and validated fully in simulation.
A full EV or hybrid vehicle control system built in Simulink with a motor control loop, a BMS, an energy management strategy, CAN communication, drive cycle validation, and a live technical defense to Ucanly mentors.
