Before a test
Tech requirements for tests
Our proctored tests run in your browser. Check this list the day before, and you will not meet a surprise on test day.
- Browser
- A current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari on a laptop or desktop. The browser must support full screen, because the test runs in full screen.
- Some phone browsers do not offer full screen to web pages (Safari on iPhone is one). If the system check at the start of the test says full screen is not supported, switch to a laptop or desktop.
- JavaScript must be on, and the page must be the secure one (the address starts with https).
- Operating system
- Windows, macOS, Linux or ChromeOS, as long as the browser above runs on it.
- Device
- A laptop or desktop with a screen large enough to read the question and all its options without scrolling sideways.
- A mouse or trackpad, and a keyboard.
- Charge the laptop or plug it in. The clock does not stop if the battery dies.
- Connection
- A steady internet connection for the whole test. Your answers are saved to our server a moment after each change, and saved again if the connection drops and returns.
- If you close the tab by mistake, open the test again. Your saved answers are still there, but the clock keeps running.
- Proctored tests
- The test asks to go full screen when you begin. Stay in full screen until you submit.
- These are recorded with the time they happened: switching to another tab, switching to another window, leaving full screen, copying, pasting, cutting, and right-clicking.
- Copy, paste, cut and right-click are also blocked while the test is open.
- Repeated violations can submit your test automatically.
- Close other apps and tabs, and silence notifications, before you begin.
