Capgemini hires freshers in India through campus drives, pooled drives and off campus drives, and its process is more clearly documented than most. The company publishes its recruitment stages, its interview approach and its rules on official communication on its India careers site. This guide brings those details together, explains what each stage tests, and gives you a practical preparation plan.
Each drive has its own eligibility and dates. Use this guide to understand the shape of the process, then confirm the specifics in the official drive notice before you register.
How Capgemini describes its recruitment process
Capgemini sets out a general four step process for all candidates:
- Application. You apply through the job search section of the careers site with your name, contact details and latest CV. A cover letter is optional.
- Screening and position mapping. Recruiters review your application, may ask for a short discussion, and match your skills to open roles.
- Interviews and offer. The assessment and interview stages described below.
- Onboarding. Background verification begins after you accept the offer, and you may be asked for further documents.
Capgemini says the full process typically takes a few weeks, depending on the role, and that you can view your application status through the candidate login.
The stages for freshers
For fresher placements, Capgemini's FAQ lists these stages:
- Online aptitude test covering logical reasoning, verbal ability and quantitative skills
- Coding or technical assessment
- Group discussion, for select roles only
- Technical interview
- HR interview covering behaviour, career goals and fit
Candidates who clear all rounds receive a formal offer. Capgemini's general interview process also describes proctored online technical and language assessments where applicable, one or two technical interviews depending on the role, and an HR behavioural interview after a successful technical evaluation. Video interviews may be recorded, and Capgemini says it asks for consent beforehand.
Preparing for the online aptitude test
The aptitude test covers three areas. Prepare them in parallel rather than one after another, so no section is left weak.
Logical reasoning
- Series, analogies, coding and decoding
- Seating and scheduling arrangements
- Syllogisms and statement based reasoning
- Visual and pattern based questions
Verbal ability
- Reading comprehension of short passages
- Sentence correction and fill in the blanks
- Synonyms, antonyms and vocabulary in context
Quantitative skills
- Percentages, ratios and averages
- Profit and loss, simple and compound interest
- Time and work, time and distance
- Basic probability and data interpretation
Practise in timed sets of 15 to 20 questions. After each set, sort your mistakes into three groups: did not know the concept, knew it but was slow, or made a careless error. Each group needs a different fix.
A quick way to see where you stand is Ucanly's free 15 minute aptitude test, which shows your score and every answer the moment you finish.
Preparing for the coding and technical assessment
- Choose one language. Java, Python or C++ are all fine. Depth matters more than breadth.
- Practise core problem types. Arrays, strings, sorting, searching, hashing, stacks, queues and simple recursion.
- Revise fundamentals. OOPs principles, DBMS and SQL queries, operating system basics, and computer network basics.
- Practise pseudocode. Many fresher technical tests include questions where you trace code and predict the output.
Group discussion, when it applies
Capgemini notes that group discussions are used for select roles only. If your drive includes one, remember that evaluators usually look for clarity, listening, and the ability to build on others' points, not volume. Open with a clear point, support it with one example, acknowledge a different view, and help the group reach a conclusion.
Technical and HR interviews
Technical interview
Your resume sets the agenda. Be ready to explain each project: the problem, your role, the stack, one difficulty and how you solved it. Expect questions on the language and subjects you list, and possibly a short coding or SQL task.
HR interview
Capgemini's interview tips page advises candidates to keep their CV tidy and concise, to be ready to talk about achievements, challenges and lessons learned, to research the role and the company, and to prepare their own questions. Prepare a short introduction, a clear answer on why you want to join, and honest answers about relocation and learning new technologies. Our guide to answering "Tell me about yourself" helps with the opening.
Official communication and fraud protection
Capgemini is explicit about how it communicates with candidates, and this is useful protection:
- No fees. Capgemini states that it does not ask candidates to pay any fees at any stage of hiring.
- Official email only. Capgemini says it may first contact you on professional networks such as LinkedIn, but all further communication comes from an official @capgemini.com address.
- Official interview platform. Capgemini says interview communication comes through its official recruitment system, including Microsoft Teams invites for virtual interviews, and that it uses no other platforms for interviews.
- Report suspicious messages. Capgemini asks candidates to report interview or offer messages from personal email addresses to its Interview Helpdesk at cg_interview_helpdesk.in@capgemini.com.
If anything about a message feels wrong, verify before responding. Our guide on spotting fake job offers lists the common signs.
Documents to keep ready
Capgemini says document submission happens through its candidate portal before the compensation discussion and offer, and that background verification begins after you accept. Keep scanned and original copies of your Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets, every semester mark sheet, your degree or provisional certificate, identity proof and an updated resume. Check that your name, dates and marks match exactly across every document, because mismatches slow verification.
A four week preparation plan
- Week 1: one timed aptitude test, then focused revision of your three weakest topics. Start reading one article a day for verbal ability.
- Week 2: daily mixed aptitude sets and one coding problem a day. Revise OOPs and DBMS.
- Week 3: two full mock tests and a review of every error. Revise operating systems and networks.
- Week 4: interview preparation: introduction, project explanations, and questions for the interviewer. Keep a short daily aptitude set to maintain speed.
What to do this week
Check the Capgemini India careers site for current drives that match your degree and batch, take a timed aptitude test, and set a daily routine of aptitude, verbal and coding practice. Keep your CV to one clean page and make sure you can explain every line of it.
