Wipro runs several distinct fresher hiring programmes in India, and they are aimed at very different students. An engineering graduate from a tier 3 college, a graduate from an NIT, and a BCA graduate will each enter Wipro through a different door. This guide explains the programmes Wipro describes on its official early careers page, how a typical fresher selection process works, and how to prepare for it in a focused way.
Wipro publishes the eligibility, test pattern and dates separately for each drive. Online articles often repeat older patterns as if they were current. Before you register, read the official listing on careers.wipro.com for the drive you are applying to.
The four Wipro programmes freshers should know
Wipro's early careers page lists several programmes. Four of them matter most for technology students.
Elite: technical graduate hiring
Wipro describes Elite as its technical graduate hiring programme for newly graduated engineers from across the country. Participants receive hands on training with current technologies and take part in real client interactions. This is the route most engineering students will take.
Turbo: premier institute hiring
Wipro describes Turbo as technical hiring from 46 premier institutes, including IIITs, NITs and select private colleges. Participants gain exposure to niche technologies and access to learning and certification programmes. If your college is on the list, your placement cell will announce it.
STAR: top institute fast track
Wipro describes the STAR Hiring Program as a fast track for talent from 13 top technical institutes, with early access to global client projects, learning and certification, and fully sponsored higher education.
WILP: work and study for BCA and B.Sc graduates
The Wipro Integrated Learning Program includes WIMS (Wipro Infrastructure Management Services) and WASE (Wipro Academy of Software Excellence). Wipro describes these as non engineering campus hiring programmes, started in 1995, that let BCA and B.Sc graduates work full time at Wipro while pursuing a fully sponsored M.Tech from a partner institution.
For BCA and B.Sc students, WILP is worth serious attention. It combines a salary with a postgraduate degree, which few fresher programmes in India offer.
Eligibility: what to check in every Wipro listing
Because each programme and each year has its own criteria, check the official listing for these points before you apply:
- Degree and branch. Elite and Turbo are aimed at engineering graduates. WILP is aimed at BCA and B.Sc graduates.
- Graduating year. Each drive names the batches it accepts.
- Marks. Most fresher drives set a minimum percentage or CGPA for Class 10, Class 12 and graduation. Check the exact figure in the listing.
- Backlogs and gaps. Note any limit on active backlogs or education gaps.
- Service agreement. If the programme includes a service agreement or sponsored study, read its terms in full before accepting.
If anything in the listing is unclear, ask your placement officer or use the contact options on the official careers site.
How a typical Wipro fresher process works
The exact rounds vary by programme and year, but most fresher selection at large Indian IT services companies, including Wipro, follows a similar shape:
- Registration on the official careers portal or through your college.
- Online assessment, usually covering aptitude, logical reasoning and verbal ability, often with a coding section and sometimes a written English task such as an essay.
- Technical interview on your projects, your programming language and computer science fundamentals.
- HR interview on communication, relocation, flexibility and fit.
- Offer and onboarding, followed by training.
Use this shape to plan your preparation, but confirm the actual sections and timings in the official drive notice.
A focused preparation plan
Aptitude and reasoning
- Revise percentages, ratios, averages, time and work, time and distance, profit and loss, and probability basics.
- Practise series, coding and decoding, seating arrangements, directions and syllogisms.
- Work in timed sets. Aim for accuracy first, then speed.
Verbal ability and written English
- Read one editorial a day and write a five line summary.
- Practise short essays of about 200 words on everyday topics, with a clear opening, two points, and a conclusion.
- Revise tenses, articles, prepositions and subject verb agreement.
Coding
- Choose one language and stay with it.
- Practise easy to medium problems on arrays, strings, sorting, searching and basic recursion.
- Write clean code with meaningful variable names. Interviewers often ask you to explain what you wrote.
Core subjects
Revise OOPs concepts, DBMS and basic SQL queries, operating system basics such as processes, threads and memory, and computer network fundamentals. These come up in technical interviews across all IT services companies.
Before you begin, measure your starting point. You can take Ucanly's free 15 minute aptitude test, which shows your score and answers immediately and helps you decide which section to start with.
The technical and HR interviews
Technical
Expect questions that start from your resume. If you list a project, be ready to explain its purpose, its architecture, your specific contribution, and one problem you solved. If you list a language, expect a short program or a question on its core concepts. Do not list anything you cannot explain.
HR
Common questions include your introduction, your strengths and weaknesses, your willingness to relocate or work shifts, and why you want to join Wipro. Our guide to answering "Tell me about yourself" gives you a clear structure for the opening question.
Documents to keep ready
Fresher processes move quickly once you clear the assessment. Keep these ready in both original and scanned form: Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets, all semester mark sheets, your degree or provisional certificate, identity proof, a recent photograph, and an updated one page resume. Make sure your name and dates match across every document.
Avoiding fake Wipro job offers
Wipro's official careers site includes a Fraud Awareness page. Read it before you share documents or personal details with anyone claiming to recruit for Wipro. Apply only through careers.wipro.com or your college placement cell, and be wary of any message that asks for money for an interview, training seat or offer letter. Our guide to spotting fake job offers lists the common warning signs.
What to do this week
Identify which Wipro programme fits your degree and college, bookmark the official careers page, and set up a daily routine of aptitude, written English and coding practice. When the next drive opens, you will be ready to register on the first day.
