Before you pay any edtech or placement programme, ask these ten questions. We answer every one of them for Ucanly too, so you can compare honestly.

Why this matters

Students pay anywhere from ₹3,000 for a short certificate to ₹40,000 or more for a full programme. Many of them tell the same story afterwards: the course covered the basics, but the job did not follow. Before you pay anyone, including us, get clear answers to these ten questions. If a counsellor cannot answer them in writing, that is your answer.

1. Is there a job guarantee, in writing?

Most honest programmes will say no, because no training company controls an employer's hiring decision. Be careful with anyone who promises a guaranteed job and then hides conditions in the fine print.

Ucanly: No job guarantee. Placement assistance in month 3 means mock interviews, guidance and recruiter interactions.

2. What exactly will I build?

Ask for the list of projects and whether they are real client or industry problems, or tutorial clones. Recruiters can tell the difference in one question.

Ucanly: Month 2 of PTIP is a live project internship with mentor reviews and portfolio deliverables.

3. Who teaches, and can I talk to them before paying?

A name, a LinkedIn profile, and work experience you can check.

4. What is the total cost, including everything?

Fee, deposit, EMI interest, and any certification charge. Get the full number before you start.

Ucanly: The fee is stated in your offer letter, along with the ₹2,000 seat deposit and EMI options.

5. What is the refund policy, and where is it published?

It should be a public page, not a promise on a call.

Ucanly: Refund requests within 7 days of purchase. The full policy is at our refund policy page. The seat deposit is refunded in full if the cohort does not start on your offer date.

6. How do I pay, and to whom?

Only to the company, through a payment gateway, with a receipt. Never to a personal account.

7. Can certificates be verified by an employer?

Ucanly: Each document carries a QR code you can check at ucanly.io/certificates.

8. How long until I hear back at each step?

Ucanly: Programme decisions usually within 3 working days of the aptitude test. We publish what each stage means so you know when to follow up.

9. Can I try something for free first?

You should be able to test the product before committing money.

Ucanly: The free 15 minute aptitude test, one free resume analysis, course previews and free counsellor calls.

10. Can I speak to a past student without a counsellor present?

Real alumni can be found on LinkedIn. Message two or three directly and ask what was good and what was not.

A simple rule

Pay only when you can explain to a friend, in two sentences, what you will build, what it costs in total, and what happens if it does not work out. If you cannot, ask more questions first.
